About Us

Avimukt is a digital magazine managed by researchers of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), envisioned as a platform for students, young scholars, and enthusiasts to write, reflect, and share their ideas. In an age where reels, shorts, and fleeting visuals dominate attention, the timeless habit of reading and writing is slowly being overshadowed. Avimukt seeks to revive this culture by providing budding authors with a meaningful space to nurture their creativity and intellect.

Our mission is to encourage the practice of thoughtful writing, an art that sharpens analytical thinking, strengthens communication skills, and fosters deeper engagement with society, culture, and knowledge. Whether it is a reflection on contemporary issues, an academic insight, or a creative expression, Avimukt gives voice to perspectives that deserve to be heard.

Why Avimukt?

The word Avimukt comes from Sanskrit, meaning “never forsaken” or “ever free.” This name embodies our belief that knowledge, creativity, and truth should never be abandoned in the face of distractions. Just as the city of Varanasi (Kashi) is often called Avimukt Kshetra - a place never forsaken by Lord Shiva - we envision this magazine as a space never forsaken by ideas.

What We Offer

A platform for students and scholars to write beyond textbooks and syllabi.

An opportunity to learn from writing itself by improving clarity, critical thought, and articulation.
A community where ideas are reviewed, nurtured, and published under the guidance of researchers and experts.
A digital presence that brings back the joy of long-form reading, complementing the fast-paced world of short videos.

Our Vision

Avimukt is more than a magazine; it is a movement to bring reading and writing back into everyday culture. By creating a digital archive of young voices and original thoughts, we aim to inspire a new generation of writers and readers who carry forward the legacy of knowledge, reflection, and creativity.
